After a relaxing few days off, I was ready to be productive on Wednesday morning. Leading into the last six weeks of school, we’ve got so much going on that I knew I’d have to do a bit of work this week. I did my subject planning on Wednesday morning and touched on a few reports before clocking off for the day and going bouldering. I hadn’t been climbing since about October and my arms definitely knew it! My hands were burning and arms shaking within about half an hour, but I did get back into the groove quite quickly and managed a solid hour before I needed to head home. We had a dinner booking for 6:30 at HIDE, so I had a quick shower when I got back and then we hopped on the tube into the city.
This was our anniversary dinner for earlier in May, and it certainly made for a special occasion. We shared some oysters with a glass of champagne to start, had prawns as a starter, and then I got octopus for a main and Peter had lamb.
We also shared a spectacular Australian bottle of wine from Yabby Lake. It felt very nice to treat ourselves and have such a delightful dinner after everything in the last few months.
Similarly, after an early physio appointment on Thursday I ran home and then got stuck into work, having a very productive afternoon of report-writing and organising evidence for the Geography Mark.
We had to take advantage of the sunny weather though and when Peter had finished work we headed down to the park and read in the sun before it was time to order dinner and have movie night with Rachel and Stu.
On Friday I had a hair appointment, which sounds mundane but was actually very exciting as it was my first actual haircut by a hairdresser in more than a year! It was a nice experience, and a good choice to actually go to a proper salon as I’m really happy with the cut. Afterwards I came home and worked on the Geography Mark some more before clocking off for the weekend and enjoying a quiet Friday evening of reading and puzzling.
I’d booked my vaccine appointment for Saturday morning so after a quick breakfast, I headed in to Guy’s Hospital and got that done – very exciting! Afterwards I headed up to Angel to meet Peter and the Mikkeller Running Club crew for our first Saturday run since lockdown. Afterwards we all sat down at the Mikkeller Brewpub and had a beer and some snacks. After a couple of hours of chatting, I was feeling a little nauseous (could have been vaccine or could have just been the run/beer/food combo) so when Peter and Justin headed to another pub, I headed home and had a quiet afternoon of reading. I’d deliberately planned a quiet weekend after the vaccine in case I reacted to it badly, which has worked out well because I actually feel fine now and have managed a very relaxing weekend! After speaking to Mum, Dad and Jess this morning on Skype, the rest of my Sunday plan is to start my new puzzle, read and just mentally prepare for the return to school.
