What a wild few weeks it’s been, I’d completely lost track of how long it’s been since I did a blog post. Unsurprisingly the week I returned to work was very busy, just settling back in and getting reorganised with the things I’d missed. We had a Canada Day celebration on the 1st July, meeting up with Justin and Lee for a pub dinner and a few beers by the Thames. The weather was beautiful, so it was quite perfect sitting and watching the sunset by the water. When we got home on the 1st, my TropicFeel bag (fancy pre-ordered birthday bag) had also arrived, so that was very exciting too!
We got some positive news that looked like the house sale was going well/starting to make progress that week as well, so popped by an appliance store on Sunday to check out fridges and washing machines, a surprisingly (and maybe sadly?) exciting trip. On the same Sunday (the 4th) we celebrated Independence Day by watching Independence Day on zoom with Rachel and Stu.
We’ve had a few fun events in the last few weeks, with book clubs, running clubs and Taste of London, but have also been quite cautious as the COVID cases have been steadily creeping up as the days and weeks go by. If there’s ever busy pubs/queues of any kind happening, we’re out of there! It’s been good for us that the Euros have been on and we’ve been able to watch them from home, but not great for the giant gatherings of people watching the games!
Finally, two weeks ago we got a notice from Peter’s vendors saying they were ready to pick dates so after a bit of back and forth we set the 29th of July as completion day and contracts and deposits were eventually exchanged (making it legally binding, finally!!) on Friday. It’s been an exciting week of booking movers, cleaners, power, internet, and deciding when to give notice with the least possible pain for ourselves. Crazy to think that after all the delays it comes to an end so quickly, but very convenient for us as the date is in between our two summer holiday plans.
Amongst all of the house excitement, it’s also been the last week of the school year; we had a fun week of Wild Space campfires, football tournaments, a BBQ, parade and a water fight. It was sad to say goodbye to the year 6s, but lovely to hear how much they’ve enjoyed the last year and receive lots of thanks from parents as well. Once school finished today we had a final BBQ with the teachers and then I headed home to do a final pack up before we fly to Edinburgh!
