Exploring the Neighbourhood

We had set an alarm to wake us up at 7:30 this morning. David had arranged for a handyman to come to the apartment to do an estimate and we needed to let him in. Getting out of bed wasn't easy as we were jet-lagged and still tired from the last couple days of travel.
After the handyman left, Ken went shopping for bread so he could make toast for breakfast. He got to see the neighbourhood in daylight for the first time. It's a very nice area with lots of cool building and sights very close by.

Ken made coffee and toast for breakfast and then we went for a short walk to explore the neighbourhood some more. We walked through the 'West End' theatre district to the river, passing many theatres along the way.

We opted not to cross the river because it was starting to rain, and walked to trafalgar square instead.

Went into the national gallery, since we were already there. It's free so you can enjoy a short visit and then come back later, rather than feeling like you have to see the WHOLE THING in one day.

After that we walked to Leister square and bought tickets for a play (The Dresser) later that night. Then dined on Egyptian fast food called koshari, which was very tasty.

After supper we walked down St Martins lane and had drinks in the Crypt Cafe under the St Martin in the Fields church.

Then it was time to go to our play at the Duke of York theatre. It was not actually about a piece of furniture, but rather about a man who's job it is to help an actor get his costumes on.

Walked home along Long Acre Road and went to bed.
