On the Thames

London, England, United Kingdom
Quiet morning, clearly still jet-lagged. We didn't get out of the flat until after 11 am.
By chance we stumbled on the Palace Theatre (where Heather wants to see the Harry Potter play - if she can get tickets).

Walked south past St Martin in the Fields church to Trafalgar square.

Walked down Whitehall past Downing Street, which is completely blocked off with a security fence...

to Westminster Palace...

Crossed the Lambeth bridge and back up the other side of the river to the London eye (though we didn't go on it because the lineup was insane.

Crossed back on the Westminster bridge and got on the river bus at Westminster pier and took it all the way from West to East as far as it goes down river. We went past an amazing array of architecture, both old and new. One thing we noticed about the London skyline is the large number of construction cranes. There sure seem to be a lot of new buildings going up.

We got off at the North Greenwich pier near the O2 stadium.
Crossed the river on the Emirates Airline cable car.

Road the DLR (Docklands Light Rail) train back to where it ends in 'the city' at the Tower Gateway station.
Walked past the so-called Tower of London. (It IS in London, but not much of a tower.)

Walked to the walkie-talkie building and inquired about going to the Sky Garden at the top. (Now that's a tower!)

Apparently its rooftop garden is considered a public park, but you need to book a reservation in advance, so we'll have to do that later.
From there we walked to Saint Paul's Cathedral and sat in on the 'evensong' service for a while.

Continued back toward the flat. Stopped for supper at Kimchee, which is a really good Korean place. It was super busy (on a Wed night, no less).
Made it back to the flat and booked a reservation to go up to the Sky Garden in the 'walkie-talkie' building on Friday am.
Cleaned the apartment as we were expecting our first airbnb guest the next day.
