Today we leave for India. We got up at 5:00 so we'd have time to shower and do one last tidy of the apartment before leaving for the airport. Took the tube from Holborn to Victoria station (it was packed) and then the train from there to Gatwick airport.
Flew to Istanbul, arriving in the late afternoon. The approach to the airport was cool as we flew over the city.
The Istanbul airport is basically just a big (and ridiculously expensive) shopping mall. We spent 3 hours wandering around looking at the overpriced goods and trying the free samples of 'Turkish delight' in the many duty free shops.
At about 8 pm we boarded our flight for Delhi. They served a really nice meal and handed out slippers and ear plugs and eye masks to everyone. We really like Turkish Air.
