Hi folks,
It’s us, back again on out travels but this time without any ferries taking us to faraway places. We had an invite from a friend to his 60th taking place towards the end of April in Lytham St Anne’s, from that invite we decided to have a trip away and take in some of ‘Gods Country’, for those not in the know that’s Yorkshire of course. But…. As with our plans the trip grew somewhat into a trip as far north as Cumbria to meet friends and as far south as Cheltenham to meet friends, we haven’t decided what to do from there yet!
After a very sunny March we thought the weather would get better, alas, on the day we left it was snowing and heavy rain was forecast for the first couple of weeks. However here in Wyton we have had great weather during the day enabling us to get out and about covering a fair bit of mileage on foot. On the one occasion it did snow yesterday we dived into a pub, after two pints and a very tasty tomato and pepper soup we were back out walking! Today was another walk into St Ives and good old fish and chips and a mug of tea for lunch (practising for Yorkshire!).

We came across something never seen before anywhere we’ve ever been, a floating caravan park,
we’ve seen the floating houses on TV
but in the marina next door they have a site of floating caravans, some with boats moored up alongside, in the same marina are the floating houses and a whole raft (no pun intended) of house boats and day boats. Day boats can be hired by the hour, not cheap by any means unless there is a few on board.
The trip has not been without its challenges though, when we got here the water pump had stopped working, the water heating had refused to deliver the normal scalding water, in fact any heated water and the worst thing ….. Maureen’s straighteners had given up the ghost. A bit of fiddling and tinkering and the water pump and water heater are sorted, unfortunately the straighteners ended up in the skip and have been replaced. Oh for a quiet life! Have to mention here that the watermelon plants (don’t ask!) are doing just fine, so far.
It has been extremely cold outside during the dark hours although we were very toasty in the motorhome.
We move northwards tomorrow to another site called Furze Farm just outside Louth in Lincolnshire, we will see what Louth has to offer…….
