Hi folks,
We had a good trip up from Wyton Lakes to this fairly new ‘luxury’ site which is near a village called Manby but only a couple of miles away from Louth, here in Lincolnshire. Maureen picked this as you get your own bathroom for the duration of the stay.
The site is well kept, the bathroom is a great idea and works very well, there is one for each of the twenty level, gravel pitches.
The site has its own little games room with a pool table, darts board and a library.
As for the weather which was meant to be cold and wet, it’s actually a bit windy but warm, long May it continue.
Day 1 and we asked about the walk into the village for a refreshment! and was advised that the road is quite busy so best not to bother and the site owners could not recommend it as they had never been but….. if we went out of the back gate there is a pub about a mile and half away that does food however …… it’s closed on a Monday and Tuesday! although there is one further afield but walking 14 miles for a pie and pint is a bit much.
Louth itself is only a couple of miles away and we were pointed to the bridle path which would lead us there, off we went in search of a pint and lunch. First pub was shut, second pub was not doing food but The Kings Head hotel in town did us proud. Steak ale pie and chips and a Mushroom Stroganoff proved to be hearty meals, along with a couple of G and Ts and pints. We then had a good walk back to boot.
We had pre-booked the bus for our trip into town on day 2 and having walked it previously we decided to only get single tickets, this time we had a good walk around visiting some of the Louth attractions. We went into the church to look at the video feed of the nesting peregrine falcons, apparently they have been back for 8 years and produce 3 or 4 chicks per year, the church was very ornate as you would expect! What we did notice is that most of the shops are occupied as opposed to being boarded up, the indoor markets were busy as was the town in general. There were are a lot of folk wearing masks and we thought we may have missed some announcement but no, normality was slowly getting here. Very noticeable, and the same in a lot of places we go is the abundance of charity shops and hairdressers, but folk have to make their money. After a hearty lunch with no alcohol we headed off back on foot.
An evening in the motorhome watching a bit of telly and relaxing finished the day off.
This morning after doing a bit of topping up the fresh water and discarding waste water we are heading up to Gods Country to stay on the outskirts of York, let’s see what that brings…..
