Hi folks,
Here we are at another marina which is the third one of our trip, all purely coincidental I must say. We travelled down via the Lake District
with Maureen diving into the back of the motorhome taking photos as we went along, what beautiful countryside.
The site is quite large but well spread out and on the edge of a working marina. There are a few longboats on dry land being refurbished along with a fair few ‘day boats’ on trailers. Pitches are level and the toilet block is new and very good, albeit the cardinal error of having push button showers can be tolerated as there is also a bath, which this afternoon provided a relaxing half hour for me.
We did a walk yesterday heading away from the town down the tow path, our intentions were to do a bit more of our new activity. We came across a nesting swan
which is not a common site so out in the open, certainly far enough away to avoid being bothered by us mere humans going past. It was then back to the site and dinner in the site restaurant/bar followed by some live music and singing by a local artist, not too bad. Today we headed the other way and after doing a bit more geocaching we headed into the town. What a contrast to the last town, this one is fresh, clean and full of flowers. No empty shops but there were 4 Turkish mens barbers and the requisite number of charity shops dotted around, along with a variety of others.
After a hearty bowl of home made soup and a chunk of bread we headed back to the motorhome, I did a bit of packing, well I put away the whirly gig having got all the washing dry and we settled down for a bit of chill time. We are heading off tomorrow for a 60th birthday garden party and the onto Cheltenham to meet up with motorhoming friends……
