Across Quebec

Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada
 Monday, June 16

We set out on our westward trek across Canada, but before leaving Quebec we wanted to fill our larder with some good Quebec food . A supermarket in Mont Laurier offered a mind-boggling selection of patés, some of which we later enjoyed at a pique-nique off highway 117 beside one of the thousands of lakes that we passed. They say that one-sixth of the world's fresh water is in Canada, and we believe it. At the end of the day we crossed into Ontario and found a campsite at Esker Lakes Provincial Park, in Kirkland Lake. There were numerous RVs in place, but we didn't see any inhabitants in them. Lots of mosquitoes, though!
