On to Thunder Bay

The landscape changed dramatically as we passed the shores of Lake Nipigon on our right and wonderful rock formations arose on our left . In the town of Nipigon we found a welcome station offering free wireless internet, our first connection in several days. Our goal for the day was not far away: Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, east of Thunder Bay. We have our own Sleeping Giant outside of New Haven, so we were eager to see this one. He lies on a peninsula jutting out into Lake Superior, and from the park's website we had reserved a campsite beside an interior lake, Lake Marie-Louise. It turned out to be even better than we had dreamed, with beautiful light both morning and night, and the sun came out just as we arrived.
