After a couple of quiet days because of the weather, today was finer so we set out on our first hike on a walking track near our apartment in Arpuilles. Those hiking poles would have helped, but we managed okay, however our legs will be very sore tomorrow. There are lots of trails around here so we will be busy. On our way back we heard a lot of noise so went to investigate and found a cow fighting show. Apparently it is an old traditional custom here and we had heard about it so it was really special to come across one up here in the mountains. We are not sure of the procedure because the cows seemed to be enjoying themselves and they just seemed to lock heads when they felt like it and stop when they wanted to, but in some way they were being judged. They had bells around their necks which rang when they locked heads, it was quite musical.
