ANZAC DAY AND LIBERATION DAY IN ITALY

Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy
Last year we caught the bus from Santa Margherita to Portofino and it was one of the worst bus rides ever as it was extremely overcrowded. We now realise we could have walked to Portofino, it's a fair way but it is possible. Yesterday we walked almost all the way, taking photos and generally enjoying the scenery and cafes and restaurants along the way, (a big improvement to the bus) however we will probably go all the way into Portofino another day. Today it is Anzac Day for us and it is Liberation Day for the Italians so it is a holiday and there are parades and services. Liberation Day celebrates the day that the Americans came in and liberated Italy from the Germans.
