The 2nd smallest country in the world - Monaco

Monaco, Monaco
We arrived in Nice yesterday and are staying here for 4 days. So, today took the train to Monaco - Monte Carlo. I had been here in 1968 and wanted Dave to see how awesome it is.

Walking through Monaco's train station was unreal . The floors and walls were solid marble. I've never seen anything close to this elaborate in any train station or airport anywhere. Dripping with $$$$ here....

Monaco's streets are mostly cobblestone, quaint and so clean. We headed on a long path to the Prince's Palace which took us along the Mediterranean. Beautiful is not enough of a word to describe the views. When we reached the entrance to the Palace, we only saw 1 guard at post. If it is anything like Buckingham Palace in London, there is not as many guards when the Prince is away.

Not far from the Palace was an area that we were able to watch the Monaco ePrix race from above. Many people bought tickets to sit in the stands and we just walked up to an area that looked right down on the track with the Mediterranean in view and it didn't cost us a cent. The Monaco GRAND Prix is going to be run here in a couple of weeks.

As as we were heading back to the train station we saw a motorcade heading towards us. The license place was MC 01, which belongs to Prince Albert. In the photo I took, it looks like Prince Albert might be in the back seat with his back slightly turned away. Hmmmm...we might have seen royalty today.

Headed back to Nice. Tomorrow planning on going to Cannes. The Cannes Film Festival is starting this Wed the 17th and hoping to see some celebrities and maybe more royalty. The beauty of Cannes is not to be Missed either......
