Espanola, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
This is the island that Charles Darwin visited in 1835 which shaped the natural selection where only the fittest will survive.

This morning was snorkelling, 2 options, deep water and beach for practice and then out to "The Rock" where there are many of colourful reef fish . As the deep water has much more of a current Geoff will do this option and I do the scardy cat option because I am petrified when they say 'current' a confident swimmer. In saying that the zodiacs are watching you all of the time. Geoff got to swim with the sea lions and has some great pictures with the underwater camera.

Back on board again and after a quick shower it is lunch time.   My, the day just flies. The afternoon sees us heading to Punta Suarez where it is a 2.1km walk. The walk is arduous as we are walking the whole time over boulders. But, we were rewarded with spectacular views and sightings of wild life such as Blue Footed Boobies, Nazca Boobies, Frigates, Albatrosses, swallow-tailed gulls, marine iguanas, lava lizards, finches, sally light foot crabs, sea lions, Espanola mocking bird and Darwin’s famous finches. We even are taken to a blow hole which is on the edge of a cliff. This one really has pressure and it’s a gusher. On the journey back we come across a couple of albatrosses performing the mating ritual. This is to locate the mate as they can tell by the dance, bowing and clacking of beaks and the sword fighting with their beaks. It is pretty amazing to watch. As the light draws to a close the mosquitos converge upon us and my they are huge and even sound like bees because they are so big. Back to the ship for a well-deserved shower.

Tonight after the showing of the underwater footage and a daily recap together with tomorrow’s adventure schedule there is a National Geographic photo instructor holding lessons for those that are interested. He just explains how to get the best pictures.
