Genovesa, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
We are off again at 8.00am after breakfast to Prince Philip Steps. OMG these steps climb 90 feet and are nearly 1 and a half feet for each step. I was a mountain goat today and managed to get to the top and back down again. Lucky no one is in a hurry around here they are really good. This island is known as the bird island. Wwwwwwoooooowowwwwww the wild life was absolutely incredible. I could not stop snapping pictures of everything. The birds are amazing and they just walk around you like you are one of them. Wait until to see some of the pictures. The birds we saw were red footed booby, Nazca booby, frigates, Genovesa mockingbird, petrels, and 2 owls (here they are not nocturnal). It was about 10.15am when we returned to the ship.

Deep water snorkelers leave at 10 .45am so we have to change to swimmers and suit up in a wet suit and yes this time I did do the deep water snorkelling. It was amazing, the fish are colourful and we even get to swim with sea lions. They just come up to you and swim next to you or underneath you. Zodiacs take us to the snorkelling point and wait with us to ensure that we are all safe and return. We are back at 12.15pm to rinse out the gear and get ready for lunch at 13.00pm.

This afternoon at 15.30pm we do the Darwin Bay sandy trail where we are transported to the beach in zodiacs for a wet landing. The loose coral is sharp and this is why we have reef shoes on. Once landed we need to change to good walking shoes as we are walking over sharp lava to another cliff where we see the same birds as this morning but on a different side of the island. There were no owls on this side.

Back in the zodiac to the ship and it is 17.00pm. We go up to the verandah deck to watch the sunset but there is not much of a sunset because there is a huge cloud in the way. Well I suppose we better get ready for the days recap and the schedule to disembark back to civilisation tomorrow. Cocktail hour from 18.45pm while the day is recapped. Mm mm these cocktails are really yummy too. Dinner is served at 19.30pm for a sit down a la carte. At 20.30pm the tour director lets us know that we will be crossing the equator in about 10 minutes so we all depart to various places to watch the counter turn to all zeros from the bridge, to the library or the lounge.

Well I put the times on today just to let you know that this trip is really an adventure. I have heard it described as no holiday but an expedition. That is a perfect description of this trip.
