Santiago, Chile
Weather fine with temperatures 7 - 30 degrees
543 metres above sea level

We started the day on our own to visit the Immaculate Virgin Mary atop San Cristobal . A 25 minute walk to the funicular.  It was only a short ride to the top.

The view from the top was amazing, we had a 360 degree view of the city. Albeit there was a small amount of smog this morning you could see the smog line above the city when we were on top of San Cristobal Hill.  Today the weather was unusually warm of 30 degrees. Apparently this time of the year it starts to get cool.  During the day we also went to Santa Lucia Park. This was a lovely park with high views over the city and a couple of different types of gardens.

We had to be back to the hotel by 3.00pm to join the first day of our tour. We did a city tour both in the bus and on foot for 2 and a half hours.   Cocktail reception to discuss the tour and tomorrows plan.  Our group is only 12 and we will be the pioneers to the Colca Canyon and Arequipa new itinerary so they will be eager to see what the first group thinks about the change in plan.

Our talk commenced at 7.00pm to check the tomorrow itinerary and believe it or not is it now 10.30pm so about time we got some shut eye. We will be having a late start of 8..30 am in the morning thank goodness. The group is really nicer so it would appear that good times are to be had with such a small group.
