Chivay, Arequipa, Peru
Arequipa Weather fine, temperature 23-9 degrees
Colca Canyon weather fine, temperature 11-5 degrees
4,800 metres above sea level

Last night we had a lovely dinner in a place called Zig Zag, Arequipa . There was a trio of meat, pork, beef and llama. Actually, the llama was quite nice. It came out on a volcanic sizzling rock with the meat still finishing the cooking to the customers preference.

We spent about 4 hours on a bus today to move from Arequipa to Colca Canyon. We had some photo stops along the way. In the national park we saw llamas, alpaca and vicuna (animal looks the same but has fur not wool). We travelled along the highway near to the smoking volcano, as you can probably realise that this one is active.

Arrived at our hotel at the Colca Canyon in the National Park and were blown away it was so large and comfortable. It is really cold at night and the floors are heated. The turn down service even leaves hot water bottles with little lamb covers on them so your bed is warm. I had to rub the decadence of our hotel room in so there are a few pictures here to show you all. Hot tub, outdoor shower, fire place and such big rooms.

Arriving early the hotel did a Peruvian cooking demonstration and a cocktail making class (pisco sours mmm not bad). Dinner at 7pm and then off to bed for an early start.
