Puno, Weather fine, temperature 13 to 2 degrees (bbbrrrr)
3,800 metres above sea level

Today was a big day on the bus for 6 hours with some stops along the way . We called into the highest point so far in Peru for us. It was 4,910 metres above sea level. The place sparse with no vegetation but everyone who goes there makes up those rock castles, if you look hard you can see them everywhere. There is also a plant which grows a little lower down and looks like a moss. It only grows 1 mm per year. On the drive down from the mountains about 5 minutes from the desolate area is a green area where the snow is melting and making icicles.

We called into a lake and had picnic lunch nice view. Back again on our way and we come across Chilean flamingos, vicunas, llamas and alpacas. Moving further down again through the little towns there are sheep and cows.

We arrive at our hotel at 3pm and our room is very small, I suppose the last 2 days is the make up for it. We have been advised that this is the best hotel in town so I am wondering how big the other hotel rooms are. The only thing with our hotel is that it is right on Lake Titicaca and the view is a good one.
