Machu Picchu weather fine, temperature nice

This morning was free time after a full day yesterday . The hotel which we stayed at was in the rain forest at the base of Machu Picchu so we didn't need to catch the train back yesterday until today. We had a little cabin which had a fire place and all of the necessities. It was very warm and we slept well after walking around Machu Picchu yesterday. We were advised that there were lots of birds in the rainforest garden and there is even an eco-centre here is anyone wanted to book a walk in the orchid garden or bird watching. While we were walking around the grounds we saw lots of small birds and walking down a path there were a couple of feeders which were set up for the humming birds. We sat and watched them for about half an out as they are so fast and colourful. On the way back to the train station we called into the markets for a look around.

Caught the 1.30pm vista dome train from Machu Picchu to Ollyantayambo which had the same scenery on the return trip. After we were bussed to our very luxurious hotel which will be for 2 nights. Our room has a view of the snow-capped mountain right in front. We are all a bit weary after the big day walking up and down all of the stairs at Machu Picchu but definitely worth it!
