Tower of London and more

London, England, United Kingdom
Well it was a little warmer today, the wind chill factor only made it feel like -3 instead of -5. The cold is unseasonable and often the top news story, it is the cold winds come from the arctic circle across Scandinavia that is causing the issue. It makes the sight seeing harder but hasn't stopped us yet.

Today was the Tower of London where we saw the Crown Jewels, armour, great walls and moat, towers where prisoners were held and of course the yeoman (beef eaters) . The Crown Jewels are amazing and we were equally impressed with the size of the safe door - you won't get through that easily. It was odd to see the changing of the sentry and we wondered if this was just an act, I mean why would they still have actual soldiers with machine guns still at the Tower of London? Well, ask a yeoman a stupid question and he will assure that "they still have real soldiers in Britain". We spent 3 hours at the Tower of London and did not see everything, but saw enough.

After warming up on soup back at our flat, we headed out again to Marble Arch, mostly to sort out the hire car. We discovered this week that there are track works on the line heading towards the Cotswolds which was going to add an hour and a half to the trip and that it would be much quicker to pick up the hire car from Heathrow. We then headed to Kings Cross station to see platform 9 3/4, and St Pancras station.

We are seeing lots of the tube, and doing lots of walking. Everything feels familiar, but different, a bit like visiting an old not well known relative.
