Last day in London

London, England, United Kingdom
Today was our last day in London until we come back at the tail end of our trip. The sun decided to shine, the temperature rose and we were able to walk across the millennium bridge with sunglasses on, a smile on our face and coats unzipped! (Hey, at this stage we will take what we can get).

Across the bridge we went to Shakespeare's Globe theatre, and whilst the venue is a reconstruction, in the wrong location and not necessarily an accurate representation, it is the best they are able to do and the tour is fascinating . The theatre is open air and is operational (only during the warmer months), and whilst there we witnessed a production undergoing preparation.

In the afternoon we finally got on a double decker bus much to Gemma's delight, braved the holiday crowds and headed to Selfridges. It is enormous and we were fascinated by the amount of spending going on for a country in a recession. The bus trip was interesting, Oxford Street was chaotic, narrow and a cacophony of buses and taxis.

We've enjoyed the week here in London in our lovely apartment in the most magnificent location, but now looking forward to some time in the country as we head to the Cotswolds tomorrow.
