Yesterday, Easter Sunday, we went for a walk in the afternoon. In 5 minutes, we had walked clear out of town. The town finished very abruptly, one minute we were walking along a narrow street with 2 storey terraces on both sides, then we turn a corner and we're in a field looking back over rooftops.
In this part of the country (at least) they have a network of public footpaths through private farms
. We even walked through fields with cows.
We walked in the hottest part of the day and it was still only 5 degrees, but the sun was shining. It was a glorious day but we were all lamenting how beautiful it would to be here in spring (???) to see all the trees with new growth.
Back in our cottage, we settled down to a roast dinner and felt right at home.
