Flying to Manila

Manila, Luzon, Philippines
Our new crew and passengers boarded and after the plane was cleaned we were ready to go again. We got going about 330 am Toronto time and 3:40 pm Manila time. Our new flight attendant appreciated the chocolates. Quite sleepy by this time but they fed us again. This time I had beef and rice. Allan had the fish but wish he had the beef. A few glasses of wine seal the sleepy wheel and now ill never find out if wreck it Ralph made it home again ok.

Around 11am wide awake and filling out those silly customs cards . Snack time is coming. I saw the flight attendant with a tray and the cabin is full of paper crinkling sounds.

Whatever it was it was good. A big warm bun with some kind I meaty sweet filling. Reminded me of the Filipino taste for sweet over savory.

So as I fly some random thoughts:

We left almost 2 hours late but because they shortened the layover we should arrive only a few minutes late

The plane is brand new. It's a 777. Quite nice 3 4 3 seating pattern. We are at the back so the windows are just two giving Allan his window and me the aisle.

Lots of food. The just brought us a small ginger cake.

I guess because of the time we left we are following the dark around the world. We should see some light just before we land.

The seat backs have a pretty good selection of movies, most of which I have seen . Watched Lincoln, Wag the Dog, Wreck-it Ralph and Pitch Perfect.

At 430 they turned the lights back on and brought out hot towels, a nice treat after a long night.

More food is on the way. We were served a choice of adobo or ham and eggs. Food was quite good on this flight, just not warm enough.

And finally the light is catching up to us with a spectacular sunrise. On the other side of the plane. View on our side was still cool though.

Last hour on the plane was a hive of activity with everyone getting ready. According to the moss we are pretty much over the country now, but all I see is water out the window.

We got landed and got to immigration who did not see my visa at first and was only going to approve me for 21 days. But in the end all was good.

Luggage took forever, and in the Philippines lines and courtesy in line are often forgotten . After about 20 minutes we got close enough to the belt to see the luggage and the luggage came about 25 minutes after that.

Checked out duty free and bought some smokes and Baileys.we then headed out to the general public area and were inundated by cabbies. We had thought we would air cargo our luggage to save money but we were directed to the wrong terminal and with time getting short we had to check it.

So we headed to terminal three and checked in. We met up with Katharine, Alvin, Indak and Kyle. We hoped we could pool luggage fees, but no such luck. $300 bucks or 10950p.

Well we save the luggage fee in Toronto and at it here. This fee was not unexpected.

So through security. A quick snack and wait to board to Kalibo!!! Weird thing when you get on a domestic flight here. It is the heat and the aircon.
