Saturday December 23
-early early departure to meet ship.
A bit of a scramble in the morning but we met the bus and all was well
-lots of transitions in planes and buses and zodiacs but we made it on board and got to know the ship
-there are many large family groups with college age kids and that is a bummer. They socialize among themselves and ty is the youngest person onboard. Definitely a disappointment
-food and lodging is very nice. Definitely a party atmosphere. Would have preferred a more family atmosphere
Sunday December 24
-7am hike to summit of Bartolome. Nice view down the isthmus and over to the younger lava fields on the neighboring island. Kids are rolling well with the early mornings.
-10am trip to the beach and snorkel. On the way got a picture of a penguin and a cactus. Likely the most memorable pic of the trip for me. Giant tortoises a close second
-snorkeling was pleasant temp and rich sea life. Was able to swim near the rock with a penguin on it. Crazy to be snorkeling in a shorty w a penguin. Unique. Ty and laura enjoyed the snorkel too and was a treat to swim with them
-kayak at 3:30. Topping off an active day w good sea life. Was a scenic place to kayak so glad we worked to get a spot for ourselves. Seems to me that the ship should carry more kayaks
-while we were active the ship ran the Galapagos Affair movie. Strange choice in my opinion when there are so many other nature subjects that could be covered.
