Cusco, Cusco, Peru
7/27 - Sat
-up at 7 for breakfast and packing.   Walked to train station to catch our 8:53AM ride to Ollantaytambo.  Was a shaky ride but scenic and uneventful. Always a little stressful to be on your own with minimal language skills.  Jorge was there as promised and we picked up our other luggage and then off to Cusco to meet with Darwin
-Darwin brought his 6 year old son Daniel which was fun.  We went to a market which was pretty crazy and packed and then to the Temple of the Sun.  From there we went to the San Blas neighborhood and a nice lunch including a better tasting guinea pig.  We walked through the touristy area and I bought a genuine alpaca hat for Scott’s 50th. From there we went to the main square.  It is a nice city and much better than Quito.
-We headed to the airport to repack and play catch with Daniel in the parking lot.  Then check our bags and start our 21 hour journey home.

Overall Trip Itinerary Comments
-Ollantaytambo was a great base and he hotel with the large grounds was awesome.  Puka Rumi is the place to eat as the hotel soup Laura tried was sub-par. Getting your guide to help you not get ripped off in the mini market would be nice, but I can see how the guides leave you on your own.  Solid plan to base yourself out of one hotel for a number of days of activities. And to acclimate to 9000 ft.
-Pueblo Hotel in Aguas Calientes is expensive but totally worth it.  Grounds are awesome, accommodation excellent, and included breakfast and dinner tasty.  So much better than dealing with the ultra-touristy town. A great refuge
-for Inca trail definitely need: gloves, bug spray, good rain gear
