-flights were fine but little sleep as expected on redeye. The Delta lounge in LA was mobbed and under construction. Still better than the chaos of the terminal. LAX is a zoo.
-after forgetting the car seat an having to wrangle with customs police in pigeon Spanish, we boarded our little hopper to Drake Bay. Then a bumpy taxi ride and finally a boat to our lodging. Truly planes, boats and automobiles to get to this remote outpost
-well worth it as the staff and facilities r top notch n the setting is idyllic. However it is quite humid n the ocean is basically too warm.
-we spent out first groggy day having lunch, going to the pool then the beach, heading out for a quick flat water SUP, then more pool n beach n sunset
-the kids finally started yawning at dinner n we retreated for bed
-saw leaf harvesting ants in our flashlights on our way back to the room. Saw a gargantuan grasshopper down by the front desk. Cool stuff
-crew slept hard n for almost 12 hours
Sun Mar 15
-not the earliest start but glad peeps slept hard n woke seemingly rested
-had a leisurely n yummy bfast n came up with the plan to do a 2 hour hike n catch a boat back
-took a few mins to get packed up n the friendly staff packed a snack n snorkel gear to send along on the boat
-at last we were off n it was a pleasant hike with beautiful empty beaches n rain forest scenery
-we saw a racoon-like mammal, coati?? Saw fleets of scarlet macaws which were stunning. Various bugs n other birds. The yellow tops of the canopy were stunning in contrast to the aqua water.
-stopped for a swim in Rio Claro which was at least cool if not clear. A local pushed a log into the lagoon and we all had a go. Finn n mom did well but I was a bit of a failure. Very different than a SUP...
-we arrived at our pick up beach a little late but our driver eventually warmed to us
-the beach was a little crowded by Corcovado standards but we had time for a quick dip and a snorkel around. Some fish but a decently impacted area.
-got back to our resort just in time for the 3PM lunch cut off. Had a leisurely n yummy lunch then off to the pool to play before dinner.
-has been an active n fun day. so far CR has definitely delivered on fun activities, friendly people n yummy food. Next two days have more activities ahead!
