-good night of sleep but up early do to truck noise on the square. Rested n had time to stretch n email n fiddle. All good. Bfast then pack up. Funny how no matter what time we get up, it is always 8:45 when we start pedaling.
-down to the river to rejoin our bike path. Pretty setting and today was the highlight by far as we entered an area with steeper cliffs n craggy bluffs with castles or estates on top.
-the highlight was our lunch stop where we left the bikes n hiked up to a 13th century castle perched on this craggy knoll. It was quite a site n the views from the castle restaurant were equally stunning. Really unique n fun n memorable. Highlight of the trip so far.
-we pedaled on through the second half of the ride with a brief stop at a monastery/brewery. Funny how those things go together.
-onward we went with a decent headwind. We powered through and overshot the town to get to our lodging. We were disappointed when the road turned steeply uphill. We pulled over to consult map n gps when happily a local stepped out of his house.
-we were bummed to hear or rather pantomime that we had another K of uphill n started pushing our bikes uphill. It was a tough end to a long day but we made it.
-the hotel is nice, but we r waaay out of town, so downtime then dinner here n we will regroup for tomorrow.
-elapsed time approx 6:42; rolling time 3:29; distance 57.7km. Includes hike to long lunch n long walk up the hill to lodging
