Navarre, Florida, United States
Despite our abysmal trip through Alligator Alley we had a lovely drive as we headed north out of Florida. Once on the gulf coast Lew and I decided to stop at Siesta Key. The key is proudly adorned with signs proclaiming it the #1 Beach in the USA. It was quite beautiful, but none of the beaches were dog friendly. That leaves it's rankings far below the #1 ranking it boasts, but I'll post photos and allow you to decide for yourself.

After an interminable road trip we arrived in Navarre, more specifically the home of Brenda, Skeets, and Travis Mez and Chad Johnson . We were welcomed in and ate watermelon before dinner. The Mez's have two cute little dogs named Mozart and Cowboy; they were all kind enough to welcome Lew and I AND Lola for the evening. Travis entertained us with goofy jokes, and we got to know the rest of the Mez family, as we had not met before. They had lived in the Big Sandy, Texas area before moving to Florida (Skeets had worked on the campus), and we found that he knew the Cranes (my little sister's in-laws) very well. It is a small world, indeed.

We had to get an early start the next morning, we had a very long drive to East Texas, but Travis wanted to make sure we tried some delicious sticky buns before we left. They were, in fact, very delicious, and we got to see Navarre beach, also not dog friendly. The beach towns have not been good to Lola on this trip so far.
