And by Dallas, I mean all the places AROUND Dallas

Dallas, Texas, United States
We left Gladewater Saturday morning and headed to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex for church services. We had a great sermon by the newly transferred pastor, Mark Welch (listen here http://dallas.ucg.org/sermon/spiritual-lessons-learned-moving), on spiritual lessons from moving. I really appreciated his candor, and his points were excellent; but I digress. Before services we took our little Lola over to the lovely home of Amy and Don Wuerfel in Plano. They were gracious enough to open their home to us (last minute) for the night, and allowed us to drop Lola off early.

After services Lewis and I attended a going away dinner for Anna and Ace Cockrell, there were some who were playfully incensed that we attended since Anna and Ace are moving to Cincinnati (we're so excited to have them with us . We love them to bits, and I don't have to make Anna cry every time we say goodbye now). After dinner we returned to Amy and Don's place briefly, before heading out for the evening. Lola had a great time playing with the Wuerfel's dogs Pumpkin and Toby, but apparently whined the entire time we were gone, the little brat.

We met up with some friends at the home of Liz and Justin Glasgow (in Carrollton). We sat around and reminisced about old times, and talked about Feast plans. It was pleasant evening and I'm glad we had the opportunity to go.

The next morning we had a delicious breakfast with the Wuerfels and headed out to visit with the family of Mark and Lori Holladay in Arlington. They made us lunch. We played with the kids; Luke Helterbrand and Shawna Lewis came over and we played cards.

Our original housing for the night fell through, and Mark and Lori gave us a comfortable bed to sleep in. It was great to catch up on old times. Mark and Lori have been dear friends for such a long time, and I loved the opportunity to be with their family, they have great kids.

The next morning Lew and I headed out to visit with the incomparable Virginia Reyes and her adorable son Garrett (in Saginaw). Garrett loved chasing Lola around the house and yard, and I think Lola as okay with it too.

I'm not sure we ever made it to Dallas proper, but it was a great time catching up with old friends. People over places, once again!
