Mountains to the Pacific Ocean in one day

Pismo Beach, California, United States
We left Lone Pine, California early in the morning and drove all the way to the beach. Our journey took us out of the desert, down through Bakersfield, across the southern part of San Joaquin Valley, through the inner coastal range of mountains, through the farming lands, then through a LONG stretch of road through the other coastal range before FINALLY getting to our RV Park. 325 miles.

So...in the morning we were in sight of Mt. Whitney, which used to be the highest peak in the U.S. (before Alaska became a state) and that afternoon we were walking on the beach looking at the Pacific Ocean. What a life!

We never saw Whitney. It was always covered up. Oh well.

Oh...one morning...in Lone Pine....I got out early with my camera to take photos and saw this huge flock of White Pelicans flying over, heading south. The movie is found at this link.
