Rogue River Waterfalls and Lava Tube

Prospect, Oregon, United States
Besides the gorgeous Crater Lake, we got to see some great scenery of the Rogue River in Oregon. We stayed one night at Bridgeview RV park, right on the river itself with the river right out our front porch, then we headed up the river.

While driving up the Rogue River to our RV park, we stopped to take some photos of the river. A running river through forest has got to be one of the most beautiful scenes.

The, one day while up near Crater Lake, we took off hiking through the forest to see the Mill Creek Waterfall and the Barr Creek Waterfall....just can't get enough waterfalls...they're great to look at.

We also went to the Natural Bridge area, where a cooled lava flow has allowed the Rogue River to flow through it now.

The Natural Bridge on the Rogue River is a geologic phenomenom, formed as part of the tectonic forces that gave form to the state of Oregon, beginning about 100 million years ago.At the Natural Bridge, the Rogue river flows underground into a maze of lava tubes, with but a small portion of that escaping into a small pool just below the natural bridge. The rest of the flow surges back to the surface where it is visible from the viewpoint bridge. The largest returning underground flow escapes from under the east bank into the main channel. With these "escapes" the river returns again to full strength.

Wouldn't this video we took make a great screensaver?

Just another lazy, wonderful day seeing the "small stuff" along our journeys.

Tomorrow, we head up to visit some friends outside of Eugene and Portland, then up the Columbia River to Kennewick, Washington. See you there!
