Hank ! ...and the Alabama Capitol building

Montgomery, Alabama, United States
We had a couple of days to stall before moving on so we decided to take in Montgomery, Alabama. This is the capitol of Alabama and the home of Hank Williams, famous country and western singer.
We went over to the Museum but were only able to take the outside photo. No photos were allowed inside (copyright laws). Too bad. There were soooo many exhibits of his life shown. I guess someone got some anyway.

A couple of very knowledgeable ladies were inside.....we talked about Hank for quite a while. They really knew their history.

In case you did not know Hank...here's a few of his hits...see how many you know:

Move it On Over
Honky Tonkin'
I'm a Long Gone Daddy
Lovesick Blues
Mind Your Own Business
Jambalaya
My Bucket's Got a Hole in It
Why Don't you Love Me
Cold, Cold Heart
Half as Much
Settin' the Woods on Fire
You Win Again
Kaw-Liga
Take these Chains from my Heart

Afterwards, we went out to visit his gravesite. Usually there's some green carpet in front but, periodically, someone volunteers to keep it neat so it was being replaced.

The rest of the day we spent touring the Alabama State Capitol. Rather average looking on the inside but some very historical events took place here: The founding of the Confederate States of America (CSA) took place in the Senate chambers and, on the front steps star in 1861, Jefferson Davis was inaugurated as the President of the CSA.
The interior walls and ceilings had faux walls (trick-your-eye) to make it seem that there was three dimensional wall treatments. You had to look real close to notice.

One last place...which we happened to notice at the cemetery...some gravesites...many of them...were all uniform and draped colorfully. This turned out to be the gravesites of 78 Royal Air Force men who died while training during WWII. Rather a nice memorial. Take a moment to read the plaque.

LOTS more to see in Montgomery but we're starting to get a bit worn out.
