Getting closer to Paradise!

Padangbai, Bali, Indonesia
Our taxi driver helped us to organise tickets for the fast boat as well as somewhere to stay for the night, and after some excellent haggling from Matt, we got them for a reasonably good price. Compared to what we have been paying it was an incredibly good price in fact! We got a private room with a double bed, ensuite, A/C, free wifi and breakfast all for IDR200,000 which is about £13! So much cheaper than Australia! After having a quick shower each to freshen up, we went for a little walk along the main road and found somewhere to stop for dinner. This was were we had our first taste of the famous Bintang beer. Whilst travelling around you see lots of people wearing Bintang vests and T-shirts as everyone drinks so much of it here and the clothes are so cheap they're perfect for travellers. We learnt very quickly that the people here are extremely friendly and try to be very helpful as that is how they can make an extra bit of much needed money to enable them to survive. For example, during dinner, the waiter talked us into buying an open date ticket for when we want to come back to Bali from the Gili Islands, we hadn't already as we weren't sure when we were coming back and we were worried about paying for a ticket here and it not actually working on the island so then we would have to buy another one, but he assured us it would be okay so fingers crossed they will accept it!! Along with our Bintangs, we got our first sample of Indonesian food. It was lovely to be eating different types of food again as our diet in Australia had become very bad. We had a selection of things which included beef curry, fried rice, chicken satay, egg curry, prawn crackers, garlic prawns and other things. It was delicious and all only came to about £13 and that's with 2 large beers each! Certainly a noticeable difference to Australia already!
