Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
It appears my blog about my nephew Derek´s wedding to Jessica that took place at Dreams Resort, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, never saved or got published... so here we go again!
Dad and I met up with the 49 other guests (friends and relatives) at the Toronto Airport as dad and I flew from Regina to Toronto 4 days earlier to visit my aunt and uncle and cousins in the Hamilton area . We had a smooth 3.5 to 4 hour trip to Punta Cana airport and after getting luggage and going through Customs in the very small airport, we boarded a chartered bus to take us to the Resort. It was worth its 5 star rating, as I have never seen such a beautiful resort, with about 7 different restaurants, and as it was all inclusive, you just showed up and ordered. Also most staff spoke excellent English. Most of the group went on a one day tour of the countryside, including visiting a school, watching how cigars are made, and hearing about the benefits of coconut oil, and mammagwana, a kind of elixir to romance and all other things!
The wedding was beautiful, one of 3 happening that day, and rumor has it that there were to be 4, but one cancelled! And we talked to other guets from Sask who were there in spite of wedding cancelled, and also the to be bride and groom were there as well, because travel agent neglected to cancel anything so they would have lost their money!!!   My 84 year old dad did superbly well and relaxed along with the rest of us. Every day I did a 1/2 hour stretch class followed by aerobics, then lunch, then water aerobics and at 4 p.m. either aeroblics or zumba. had to try to keep off the pounds from the eating and drinking..... but it was not a success in that regard.   We all left for the airport on Sat. Jan. 28 when I left the group and took a direct flight to Miami where i stayed for about 6 days, before heading to Uruguay and Argentina. More about that in next blogs.

Looks pleasant at the resort. Will you be taking tango lessons in Buenos Aires?

We're off to Panama next week, complicated by the fact that Lesley stepped off some stairs just before New Year and broke and couple of heel bones. She'll be sort of mobile by the time we go. Hopefully we can still get around without too much trouble. Enjoy Argentina.
