The Apple of Our Eye of the Hurricane

Toronto, Ontario, Canada
We are well into the start of this new phase of our lives. Within a short period of time, we have become condo owners and even more exciting, grandparents. When we booked this trip a year ago, neither was on the horizon, and in fact, seemed in the distant future. So when the kids told us that they were expecting, we were so pleased. And if this blog is working as it should, you can see the picture as proof. On Sept 3, we were blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, Josephine Bahar Kamel. It was love at first sight, and we look forward to seeing her grow and develop, and to sharing in her life.
The condo purchase was a different thing entirely. We did not have 9 months to prepare. It literally came out of the blue, but it seemed like the right thing to do for us empty-nesters, so we went for it. The ramifications have been a massive downsizing exercise, sorting through and packing up some 40+ years of accumulated stuff. It was daunting, fatiguing, and emotionally-charged. We're so glad that it's over and that we did it. It's definitely been liberating to reduce the weight of stuff to a manageable level. Whether we're the condo-dwelling type or not is yet to be seen. Time will tell.
This trip will definitely be a welcomed transitional opportunity, a chance to catch our breath, explore new lands, and to spend quality time together making new memories. We look forward to it, and to having you join us for the journey.
One last apology. Sorry for the awful pun in the title of this Blog. I just couldn't stop myself.
