Our Bags are Packed, We're Ready to Go!

Toronto, Ontario, Canada
So, the day of departure is quickly closing in on us. It's been a flurry of activity around the house as we've attempted to cross our Ts and dot our Is to ensure that everything is done before we leave. Right now, everywhere you look, you'll see piles of stuff we've rejected in the packing. We're committed to taking one bag each, given the amount of ground we'll be covering and the airline restrictions. One bag doesn't sound bad, until you realize how much stuff you have to take on trips these days. I feel like a cross between Best Buy and Rexall, between all the electronic/computing equipment and medications, first aid, and toiletries being taken. We have barely enough room for clothes. The old truism about taking half of the clothes and twice the cash rings true here.

Hey, if it sounds like I'm bitching, that would be far from how I'm feeling. It's always so exciting to begin one of these adventures (they're never just trips). Besides the obvious escapism are the thrills and risks associated with getting out of your comfort zone, No two days are alike, every day is new and different. Most days are positive, but some are downright sketchy. You inevitably wind up with a greater appreciation of both the outside world and concurrently, an appreciation of home. While I've done my prep and read the books/websites, at least to some degree, our trips usually evolve, and nothing can prepare you for that, What freedom! What joy! We feel truly blessed to have this opportunity, always mindful of how quickly life can take these opportunities away. So, carpe diem and to one and all we say: à la prochaine! (Until next time).

As this picture (which I took on our last trip) so well illustrates, a new adventure dawns....

Good Morning Bonnie and David,
Today is May 6th, and I'm a Bubby for the second time since yesterday! Francine and Greg welcomed their second son around 2:30 pm and he's beautiful! I tell them they do good work making babies. We're all tired, but extremely happy. SS (second son)(no name chosen yet) arrived 5 weeks early so he's staying in hospital for a few days to make sure breathing and suckling are all in perfect working order. He' breathing on his own, has great colour and this morning Francine told me he's nursing well, so everything, thank God, is falling into place.
Tomorrow Amy returns from her trip and we're all excited about that.
I hope you will have another amazing trip, journey, experience and continue to include us with your writings..we all love reading them.
Bye for now,
Cecile

Nu, so you have been gone a whole week and NO further blog entries? I assume that you are either too busy celebrating Bin Ladin's demise or are too busy having fun on your trip!
Happy Mom's Day, Bonnie!
Hope all is going well with you!
