LEAVING HOME

Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Thus begins another adventure, one that we hope is as exciting and worthwhile as past trips have been. After the usual round of stressing and obsessing, we feel pretty good that all systems are 'go'. We will, once again, be starting the trip by escorting a group of high schoolers to France as part of an educational exchange. This will take us to Paris, where we'll spend the first 3 days of our travels. For the first time, Bonnie and I will be traveling on separate planes with our respective groups, but we will be meeting up in Paris on day 2. I will certainly be happy to see her beau visage, knowing that we'll be together for the remainder of our trip.

Our last visit to Paris in 2012 was a frigid one, with snow on the ground, and unseasonably low temps. We wore all the clothes we had and had to buy gloves and hats. (I chose a touque over the beret that all Parisian men wear). Weather aside, Paris is Paris, and you just can't help but be enchanted by the city. We're excited to be able to re-visit so soon after, but hope that Mother Nature will be kinder this time around.

After Paris, it's on to Bangkok, where we guaranteed to feel the heat. Given the current unrest there, we're hoping that the only heat we'll experience will be from the sun. We'll do our best to avoid the unpleasantries, but if we sense any danger, we'll just leave and go someplace safer. It all fits into the spontaneity theme for this trip. So, we hope that you'll keep reading to see how we survive on the exchange as well as on the streets of Bangkok.

My best wishes for another exciting and DETAILED trip. By the time you return, I am hoping that spring will have arrived. If you have any spare heat or sunshine in Bangkok, do forward it to us! PLEASE!
I recall being there, lo those many years ago, and our delightful guide who was a university student was chilly because it was only 83F.
I look forward to your blogs and I wish you a safe journey there and back.
