PATPONG, PING PONG, AND WE'RE GONE

Bangkok, Thailand
Well, the trip is coming to an end as we find ourselves back in Bangkok for the third and final time. Having visited most of the touristy sights in the city, we elected to expand our horizons in a highly unorthodox way. Sure, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to get in a couple last $10 massages before we left Thailand. We also wanted to take a last cruise on the public boats which ply the waters of the Chao Phraya river running through the heart of the city (a great way to get around town and a bargain at about half a buck for what can be an hour cruise). Then, there were still a few things Bonnie wanted to pick up, so we hit a few of the street markets which are a common part of the streetscape of the city. We also explored a few neighborhoods new to us and definitely not on any tour group itinerary.

This was all well and good, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see a performance that is offered in Bangkok, albeit of a seamier nature . Up to now, I had resisted the temptation, but on our last night in the city, I thought that we should just go for it. Bonnie, with some trepedation, agreed to accompany me.

We began by taking a tuktuk to the sleezy part of town, called Patpong. The area is loaded with bars, restaurants, shady massage shops, and ladyboy clubs. It's also populated by streetwalkers, party girls, slimy-looking guys, and tons of curious tourists. I think you get the picture. So, what was the attraction, you might ask?

Well, it seems that they have these clubs where women perform some amazing stunts with their (ahem) vaginas. Various props are used such as whistles, soda bottles, knotted ropes, bottle openers, cigarettes, candles, and ping pong balls. Yes, ping pong balls. For an hour or so, we witnessed a procession of women performing these genital stunts...... and it was surprisingly entertaining, and even funny. It appeared that the majority in the audience were other curious tourists (of both genders, it should be noted). We watched the show, had a drink, and left a bit shaken up by what we had witnessed. It proved yet another way our minds had been blown during this trip.

The Asian portion of our trip is quickly coming to a conclusion, and tomorrow, we will be winging our way back west to Paris for a final few days there.

You both OBVIOUSLY, did not see the old movie "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert".
In that movie, there was a woman able to shoot ping pong balls out of her vagina! We need to improve your education!!! Ha Ha Ha!
So, it's April 1, and I am hoping you are home safe and sound. Take care,
Cecile
