Sun Peaks, British Columbia, Canada
Relaxing day today as there is not much to do in Sun Peaks we are not really into horseback riding, day hikes, kayaking, trail bike riding, nightclubbing, drinking or golfing. The Resort town is buzzing this weekend with the15th anniversary Bike Park Retro Day a big mountain bike gathering of competing down the mountain trails (you had to be careful you weren't mowed down when you were up the mountain. There is also the 4th Annual Retro Concert Weekend with bands playing in the afternoon and a session at night till 9pm plus   a 'Get Retro' at Jo's Road Race where your dress retro for a 1km walk or 5km or 10km run through Sun Peaks countryside. This was hilarious when you saw some of the costumes people were wearing.

Our unit is nice and cosy the bed we just died in last night after the long drive from Whistler. Spent an hour trying to find a reasonable cabin or unit in Jasper god they are expensive and the write up on some is terrible. Sent a few emails for cabins in jasper so hopefully will have a reply this afternoon. There goes the corner resort tower bells chiming lucky they only chime during the day or a lot of people including me would be complaining if they rang every hour during the night. the resort town is small and we can hear the band playing from our fourth floor balcony. Have a lovely view of the mountainside with all the fir trees and ski runs. Terry showed Richard how to watch movies on utube as there is not much to watch on TV.

Packed our lunch and ponchos in the backpack (bit brain dead this morning as it took three attempts to leave the unit) and headed off to the Information Centre to see what Sun Peaks had on offer. Decide to take the sunburst Express ski lift (seniors $31.00 for day pass) up the mountain 1850m up. The bike riders also took the lift up as this is where them start. The lift for the remaining section wasn't operating so we went for a little trail hike looked at the wild flowers didn't see the resident bear with her cubs on our walk. From the chair lift you can see all of Sun Peaks, the McGillivray Creek, the covered bridge near the golf course (BC's highest elevation golf course) and all the festival activities.

Feeling hungry now so we had lunch sat on the grass and listened to the Mostly Marley Band play all his music. As you can see the people really got into the mood dancing in front of the crowd and band. Nice way to pass a few hours till we walked back to the lodge for afternoon tea.

Checked for emails and missed the Jasper cabin we wanted, hadn't heard from the Old Entrance B n B Cabins near Jasper National Park. Got desperate and rang Mary the Part Owner (she hadn't looked at my email as yet) and she only has the ground floor of her house vacant so beggars can't be choosers I took it. The rate was a lot cheaper than the hotel units in Jasper the down size is it is 50 minute drive to Jasper which probably won't hurt us. Early start tomorrow for a 450km drive to Jasper and we will see the town on the way to the cabin. It had a good write up on Trip Advisor as this is where I get all our bookings from.

Will need to start checking Trip Advisor for a place to stay in Banff and possibly Lake Louise if it is not too expensive.
