Driving with Marg to Forks of the C

Brampton, Ontario, Canada
The three of us we sleepy heads and didn't get up till after 7am. Slept well even though things were a bit cramped and we put Faith's nose out of joint by closing the bedroom door and sleeping in Marg's bed. Got everyone their coffee and cereals for breakfast and in no time the morning nurse was here to give Marg her morning medication and dress her for the day. I don't want to get old and live in one of these homes. I am glad Mum was able to live in her own unit and look after herself.

Linda Skyped us this morning and Marg was excited seeing her on the laptop ad a good talk and let her know we survived the day and night. Linda suggested going to Caledon and forks of the Credit today as Marg went there when she was young plus Linda said it was a nice drive.

All the staff we have met are really lovely and do a great job looking after the elderly residents. The only problem we have is Faith running out the front door into the passageway nearly every time the door opens Willy said she is use to it and bring Faith back when he goes into their unit.

The morning air was very cool and we needed our jackets when Marg took us to morning tea at their little café in the building across from Marg's complex. Met a lot of Marg's friends and walked around the different parts near the Café. Met Marg's Hairdresser at the Salon and the lady who owns the little Convenience Shop in the Main Building. Her and Richard got on like a house on fire talking shop she has a lot of Dutch food as this was originally a Dutch Retirement Home first and there is a majority of Dutch elderly here.

The Occupational Therapist came to check on Marg and go through her exercises for her shoulder and back plus show her how to sit on the chair across the bath to have her shower or sponge bath. I went through the exercises with Marg as she couldn't understand the Indian Therapist. I just feel like being at home with Mum when I took her to doctors or any appointments.

While Marg went for her hot meal at the dining room (we didn't pay to join Marg for a hot lunch as we didn't know what we were doing during the day) we caught up with computer work and had lunch at the unit. The WIFI here is very slow guests are not allowed to login to the main computer or residents have to use areas set a side for guests. But Richard found an unsecured WIFI and we logged into that only had a three bar slow connection. I was having trouble with the blog it froze and I followed the instructions of how to fix it but I shouldn't have done the refresh as APPs removed all my important programs. No Skype, Microsoft 2013, Thunderbird for emails, Richard's Ezy Station for his shares. What a disaster. That I will tell you later.

Innocently I left the computer to refresh while we got ready for our afternoon drive to Caledon and forks of the Credit. Jill directed us out onto Hwy 410 had a Road Rage who nearly side swiped us wouldn't let us merge very frightening. As usual the highway is very busy passed through towns and farming area got to Caledon wish Lindy was here to show us where to go and what to see. Marg wasn't much help but she is old and hasn't been here for a while. Richard was amazed he over took a police car on the highway escorting an overlong semi he had to because there was a big truck behind us wanting to get by. We just shook our heads.

Missed what ever there was to see in Caledon at Orangeville now and missed the turn to Forks of the Credit, which we saw back near Caledon. Richard is getting very frustrated and mad now turned off the road and let Jill take us there. Forks of the Credit is a National Park off a dirt road and the river was a distance away too far for Marg to walk and we didn't want to leave her alone in the car. A nice Indian gentleman (Who had lived in Sydney NSW) took a photo of us and gave us directions for a nice scenic drive to Bellfountain and back to Brampton. It was a lovely scenic drive with the exception of roadworks lots of winding roads through maple, oak, and pine trees with beautiful big homes manicured lawns and gardens. Saw where the river forks on the way back to Hwy 410 Sth passed lots of corn fields.

The highway was very busy had no problems getting back stopped at Longo's for bread and cold meat. This is when I discovered the disaster with the laptop left messages with Ben Prince the Complex Computer Programmer went to Reception for another name they suggested Y2K in Shopping Center next door if we couldn't get Ben.

Both Richard and I were very upset Richard was suffering allergies from the cat his eyes were swollen and had to put his cream in to see plus he was tired and unwell.

I microwaved a bacon and veggie meal for us the night nurse came for Marg (we don't upset her routine) medication and changed for bed. Made up the chesterfield for Marg said goodnight and we got ready for bed. Couldn't sleep so took a sleeping pill for a good nights sleep and not to lay awake worrying about the laptop.
