Oxtongue Lake, Ontario, Canada

Let Richard sleep in while I caught up on the blog (have been able to do it for three days and it takes me centuries to think and write no imagination). With all the heaters in the cabin our socks are dry how I love washing Richards socks every night. These people that buy new joggers and wear them instead of the shoes they bring should be shoot. With his other shoes he wears thick socks and he only had two pairs of lighter socks which he wears with his joggers hence I wash a pair of socks every night where I only wanted to go to the Laundromat every seven days (stop being a winger Dawn).

Couldn't wait for Richard to wake I had my muesli and coffee while I caught up with the blog on a word document and downloaded the days photos. Made lunch and flask of coffee while Richard had his shower and breakfast. I showered and seeing there was enough hot water in the little tank I washed my hair now I feel nice and clean.

Drove up to the Trading Post paid for our $8.00 Day Pass to Algonquin Provincial Park first stop was just over the bridge on the way to the park at Ragged Falls. Just a short walk through the beautiful autumn changing trees up and down the hills to the river and boulder rocks where the water was cascading down well worth the stop. Three chaps were fishing in the pools of water but weren't having much luck. Nice and friendly the young chap (20yrs old) is envious of us travelling across Canada he has only been to Florida never out of North America would love to go to Australia. Has just started his apprenticeship. Drove through the park on Hwy 60 to the Visitors Centre to use the free WIFI and of course you see all the beautiful lakes and rivers while driving there.

Had a coffee while answering all the emails, Richard loaded the Ottawa address in the GPS I confirmed we would be there by 3.00pm to met Anita plus ring thirty minutes before and gave my Vancouver mobile number. Paid $93.00US for two nights in Montreal (one good price) and emailed Yannick for address. A few people there using the free WIFI so sending emails took some time. Took a video of the view from the balcony at the centre and looked at the display of animals (probably the only ones we will see) and old Algonquin. Very interesting a lot of people come to the park to camp or stay in cabins or Resorts to fish, do the trails or go canoeing. Canoes are a big thing in Canada probably because there are so many lakes and rivers.

It is a pity I couldn't find these accommodations on Google shouldn't just rely on Trip Advisor but then you don't know if they are good or very bad.

When you look everywhere you see the leaves starting to change colours and as the Canadians say you know the Fall (Autumn) has started. At least one thing in Canada when you hear the weather forecast and they say it will rain in the late afternoon and over night with a clear day following it is true. Our weather forecasters need to take a leaf out of their book because ours cannot get it right.

Ticked off the spots we wanted to look at on the way to the Visitors Centre earlier. First stop was the Lookout but we had lunch first seeing we were dieing of starvation. Was a nice trail walk of 2.1kms up and down steep hills through the tall Sugar Maples and White Birch the forest of trees is very thick wouldn't want to get lost here. Thought of Terry and Diana as we tracked through the trail and looking at the beautiful view across the valleys of forest where you see Kearney Lake, Lake of Two Rivers and Little Lake in the distance.

Next Richard drove to Whitefish Lake, Pog Lake was closed like a few other ones we wanted to see. It is great to see in all the Canadian Provincial Parks you can camp and the fresh water toilets or Biddies are not vandalised or have graffiti all over them and no litter. In Canada they are really into recycling and you can be fined if you don't comply. This is a lovely big lake with canoes, a shoreline they call beaches with wooden table and chairs a group of young people were packing up after a camping trip there.

Next we went to East Beach at one end of Lake of Two Rivers another camping area with a Community Hall with BBQ's and seating area to eat. Has a beach area but no Lifeguard lots of wooden table and chairs. We are taking videos and photos all the way along.    Two ladies were having lunch there but the snobs didn't respond to our hello's just glared at us must be French. Looked at another grassed area for picnics in the middle section of Lake of Two Rivers and lastly we stopped at Killarney Lodge with private log cabins. This is set in a beautiful spot where the land juts out in the lake with little islands near by.

We are laked out now had enough of looking at lakes, rocks and forests plus the maniacs on the road who overtake on the double lines impatient drivers who only get one car in front. The bumble bee cones we also cant' seem to get away from.

Drove past where we are staying to the Oxtongue little town which is the General Store and Petrol or should I say Gas Station. Everyone is now decorating their homes for Halloween took a video and photo plus there are cabins here with WIFI. Wish I knew and the people who own the Parkway Cottage Resort said they knew of none what a joke. The Hotel/Motel next door has WIFI but then we wouldn't have had a relaxing two nights stay.

The afternoon rain has set in so that means we won't be canoeing round the Oxtongue Lake edge to the waterfall or cliff edge. The rain has set in now so I am glad I charcoal BBQ all the chicken last night.

Dinner was quick microwaved sweet corn with reheated chicken, fried chicken rice, sliced tomato and burpless cucumber with sliced fresh juicy pineapple. God we know how to live healthy.

Downloaded today’s photos and showed Richard plus I am up to date with the blog only need to cut and paste once I have WIFI tomorrow. Just need to enter all our receipts in our Canadian GST Expense document.

Had enough going to bed now. Goodnight sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite.
