Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada
Good nights peaceful sleep woke at 4.20am looked out the window clear sky the stars are shining going to be a beautiful day for driving to Pictou on the coast of Nova Scotia. Slept in till after 7.00am watched the sunrise drinking our last filtered coffee here. Will miss the soft water, Wendy's natural soaps and the Jacuzzi. Washed my hair and it's the best shampoo and conditioner I have used since Hawaii the first time my hair has felt this soft and shiny love to know where Wendy gets them from.

Checked our emails, bills and statements to do plus Catherine is proving to be a pain with refunding our $300.00 she comes up with something else every time I email her solution from PayPal but we will get the $300.00 back. I am like a British Bulldog I go for the throat and never let go she doesn't know who she is dealing with when it comes to me.

Dr Richard is doing his three hourly trick with putting anti-biotic cream in my eye. Well we are all
packed and on our way to Pictou, Wendy is not in to say goodbye to and thank her for all her help and the lovely three days in her Studio Suite. There is only one way from Hopewell Cape Hwy 114 to Moncton drove the same way as yesterday where we missed the Tidal Bore (wave). Good concentration today followed Jill's instructions and didn't miss any turn offs on the highways through Dieppe to Exit 19A onto Hwy 2E to Nova Scotia.   This is the dual highway we came in on from Prince Edward Island with views of the autumn maples and spruce trees. The highway is very quiet just a few car's and semi's.

Crossed the river to Nova Scotia now on Hwy 104E a dual highway with the same views as Hwy 2E missed the Information Centre at first town of Amherst after the bridge there are wind turbines near the highway and the maple leaves are now turning to the colour of red. Coming up to the town of Oxford the Blueberry Capitol of Canada now driving under highways to towns on either sides of Hwy 104E. The view we have is miles and miles of autumn coloured maples and spruce trees. Paid a $4.00 Toll at Cobequid Pass to go through Colchester County must be for the good
road we are travelling on.

Took Exit 13 to Tim Horton's for morning tea and do my right eye which is hurting a bit. Now seeing some cattle and sheep grazing by the highway and the start of high voltage power lines before Exit 15. The Canadian highways would put our roads to shame they are so well maintained plus there is a lot of traffic especially semi's that constantly use them to cart freight
all over Canada. Now passing lakes, rivers and some farmland, small town of Bible Hill always reminds us of Richards sister Julie and husband Bill (church goers) when we see churches and any mention of Bible and there are a lot of them in Canada.

Now back to the view of forests with quite a few of dead spruce and maples that have lost all its autumn leaves. Getting hungry turned off at Exit 21 where some restaurants and Irving Petrol Station is this must be the favorite stop for Truckies as there are lots of semi's parked here. The Information Centre here is closed the common thing we find now seeing it is the Fall coming into the winter season. Strange to have a big Ford Highland car sales yard out in nowhere but they must selling cars and big 4x4 Utes.

Took Exit 22 to Hwy 106 under Hwy 104E to Pictou now on a single carriageway with forest on both sides. Crossed the water with a lovely view of Pictou this is where 200 Scottish immigrants landed in 1773 on the ship Hector. Just after the round about is Sobeys stopped there for top up of food and next door is our final destination The Lionstone Inn. Let Richard do the negotiating and instead of having a standard motel room we ending up with a 600 square self contained new cottage for $100.00 cash. It is a really lovely modern cottage it might be by the main road to Pictou but once inside you don't hear the traffic and the wall heaters keep it lovely and warm.

Went into the little town of Pictou to the ATM at the Royal Bank but could only take out $400.00 for the day will have to go back tomorrow for the balance of $140.00 as we need $440.00 for our next stay on Cape Breton Island it is amazing how much of a discount you can get when you mention cash.

The two guys that run the Lionstone Inn are cute we paid for our one night quickly settled in the cottage and drove back to Pictou to look at the attractions and town. Stopped at the Hector Heritage Quay paid seniors rates of $6.00 each to see a full sized replica of the original ship Hector which brought the first wave of emigrants from Scotland to Nova Scotia in 1773. Gerard the Tour Guide was up himself a bit more interested in the young German couple than us so I became a pain and interrupted him speaking German to ask questions about the ship. We explored the Blacksmith's Workshop and the Rope Room then watch on the screen the launch of the Hector in 2000.

Hunger pains are setting in and we are tired from the drive parked outside our cottage and walked next door to Sobeys bought a hot chicken and Cesears salad with pineapple for a quick early dinner. Richard relaxed in a hot bath to get rid of the aches and pains we settled in for the night. Caught up with the bills and blog Richard did his think on his ipad then we relaxed in front of the TV before going to bed or we can go to bed and watch the little TV there.
