Bras d'Or, Nova Scotia, Canada
Woke up at 7.00am with a sore back not know if it is from sleeping on the small double bed at The Lionstone Inn at Pictou or the bed here or possibly a chill. Anyway I got up checked if we had any inquiries for thePontiac (no!!) but did have a reply from PayPal and it looks like we will have to wait and see when the $300.00 eventurally goes in our MasterCard forwarded this onto
Catherine. She replied saying 10 years ago she had a similar problem with PayPal.

Richard woke up at around 8.00am dicussed the Pontiac advert somehow the photos on the Kijiji site are upside down tried changing but couldn't so people will have to turn their computer screens or what ever they use upside down. Apparently we have had a few hits Richard went online to check.

No hot water today so quick cold showers for the both of us Mark's father-in-law came over and he is having problems with the bore system reset the circuit breaker and we should be right for tonight. Checked a few other problems with him and we are now right plus found out where the Laundromat is. Seeing it is now after 10.00am it is too late to drive the Cabot Trail so will do that tomorrow. Finally did our lunch and flask of coffee and we were off to Glace Bay and Louisbourg National Historial Site.

Set Jill to take us to Glace Bay Exit 20E to Hwy 125 a dual carrageway with the same old views of maple and spruce forest for miles, farmland, lakes and rivers the occasional small villages with its church and cemetry (they are mainly houses). Bypassed the main Port town of Sydney the view was the industrial section and outer suburbs plus roadworks where the dual highway was
being extended not single lane like it is now and building an overpass bridge. Turning onto Hwy 4 to Glace Bay big Shopping Centre with a Walmart we can come back to later to get some milk and have a look around. Looks like we are still in the outer area of Sydney passed the University and Airport on the right of me.

Houses all along the highway to Reserve Mines there were once a lot of coal and dolimite mines on the Island but not anymore. Finally made it to Glace Bay looks like another fishing, coal mining town parked at the wharf asked a couple of people where the attractions were they laught and told us to go to Louisbourg. We weren't that interested in the Miner's Museum or Marconi National Historial Site where in 1902 the first official wireless message was beamed across the Atlantic. Plus going on a tour down a coal mine thses we have done in Kalgoorlie (gold mine).

Thought we would take the scenic route (Mark's suggestion) to Louisbourg what a waste of time a bumpy old road driving through the forest with a couple of glimpses of the sea or a lake lots of homes and water front land for sale. Took a short cut at Mira over to Louisbourg drove round Mira Lake to Hwy 22 stopped at Petrol Station to stretch our legs and have a quick pee.

Louisbourg is only 16kms away and it is nice to be back on a decent road with the normal scenery of Canada including marshland and dead spruce trees. Hungry now so we went down to the little fishing harbour to have lunch. Later we walked along the wharf to the end where some chaps were fishing met a funny retired Canadian Irishman (76 years old) and he told us about the area. If it wasn't for the Cruise Ships and tourists the Island would be dead. The coalmines have closed, also the Seafood Cannery on the bay (old and falling down because of asbestos).    There was a trawler there loading to fishing in Newfoundland for Yellow Fin reminds us of the Trawling shows we see on SBS very dangerous on the high seas

Like a few other people we drove round the coast to the Louisbourg National Historial Site a fortified seaport founded by the French in 1713 and abandoned by the British in 1768 only to find the gates locked. What a wasted day Richard wasn't in a happy mood took the quickest route back to the cottage on Hwy 22. Back on Hwy 225E and the roadworks which didn't do much for Richard and his mood stopped at a little Petrol Station and paid a high price for 2 litres of milk took exit 1W to Hwy 105 missed first unmarked street to cottage had to go another 7.5kms and we were back at the cottage.

Richard had a little nap while I checked again if ther were any emails for the Pontiac (no!!), downloaded todays two photos and did the blog. This cottage is becoming a bit of a pain with things going wrong finally worked out the cooking time for microwave so the veggies are done Richard went to lght the BBQ. No bloody gas it is cold outside now I walked up to the In-laws house no-one home so had to open the window near the stove to grill the meat. The heat from the griller set the smoke alarm off so Richard quickly opened the front door till the meat was
cooked. Boy are we glad there is heating to keep the cottage warm turned it down once the oven cooled down. Finished off the pineapple had our showers and ready to relax.

I booked our hotels for the last five nights in Nova Scotia four nights at Best Western Plus Dartmouth Hotel & Suites then one night (last night) at Alt Hotel near the International Airport before we fly out on the 1st November for home.

Downloaded blog into Travelpod with photos Richard is constantly checking Kijiji for how many hits we are getting on the Pontiac advert but still no emails from both sites. Time for bed and hopefully my back is okay tomorrow morning and it is not the bed giving me the backache.
