Raining non eventful day in Digby

Digby, Nova Scotia, Canada
Well the king size Simmons Beauty Bed did its job Richard snored all night, ear plugs are great blockers of noise. Sleep was easy the unit was nice and dark but for me the first night anywhere I turn into my Mum my mind is over active I'm thinking of what we are going to do and what sights to see. Plus I have turned into a clock watcher like Mum every time I get up during the night I check what time it is. Last night Richard had set up the coffee filter machine so when I got up this morning at 7.30am all I had to do was flick the switch on and we had coffee in bed watching the news and weather on TV.

Another great thing included in our stay here they provide a Continental Breakfast didn't have to get ours out everything there bread, butter, jam, cereals, yoghurt, milk and muffins the lot it was lovely. Checked emails no replies for the Pontiac Richard checked on his ipad and we are getting the hits but no response. Lunch and flask of coffee is packed ready for our drive along the other part of the Evangeline Trail from Conway to Mavillette that is as far as we are going today.

The weather looked alright this morning was very overcast but then the rain set in fine drizzle and mist you can see in the distance over the bay and hills. Raced into the B&B to speak to the cleaning ladies (both are from Brier Island) and they told me if the mist is in Digby the fog has set in on both Long island and Brier Island bad new for us. Anyway they love my Aussie accent and will restock our big complimentary breakfast bowl for tomorrow with Raisin & Bran Flakes instead of Rice Bubbles.

Jill is set to go along the Evangeline Trail down to Mavillette so we are off onto Hwy 101W at Plympton the autumn leaves have finished only bare trees and spruce to look at. As we nearer Exit 28 only one land of the bridge can be used had to stop at the temp lights for our turn to cross the Sissiboo River. Just love those roadworks but at least the roads and passing bridges are well maintained all year round.

Turned at Exit 28 to Hwy 1 the Evangeline Trail as normal signs are bad missed the turn to New
Edinburgh will see it on the way back. First town circled to see by Carol at Information Centre is St Bernard the main sight to see is the St Bernard Church a beautiful big grey stone church built in the early 1900's little village with small homes and shops not much else rocky shoreline and marshland. Next stop is Belliveau Cove small fishing harbour with little lighthouse at the entrance (tides out) another pretty little village.

As we go along all the little villages merge into one another with views of quaint little homes, marshland with small lakes along the St Mary's Bay. Church Point has a large camping area and RV Park on the waterfront then another stand out large white wooden church (Ste-Marie Church) and next to it is a University. This looks really out of place.

All the villages look the same quaint little homes, cabins, cottages, small shops a lot are selling Quilts, little fishing harbours. Through the mist and fog you can see Long Island and Brier Island across St Mary's Bay. The rain is making the day miserable so Richard turned around after Comeauville didn't continue on to Mavillette plus I can't take videos or photos in the car or outside unless I want to get wet and catch a cold like poor Richard has now. I think he is a bit rundown and has had enough of driving but he won't let me do any driving the silly bugger.

Found the turn off to New Edinburgh and enjoyed our Blueberry muffin with coffee on the point (trespassing) at Baie Ste-Marie Ocean Front Cottages. Lovely spot and it is for sale beautiful view over the bay plus you can walk down the stairs to the waters edge.   Still raining drove back to Digby and had lunch on the Fishing Wharf the tide in now in nice to see all the fishing boats high next to the wharf not nearly at the base. Very busy took some photos and drove back to the unit to relax before going to have the Pontiac serviced at 3.00pm need an oil change at W. Boliver Service Center in the Industrial area of Digby. Lovely couple run the family business and the service cost us $46.44 couldn't pay that in Perth. Said we could advertise our car at their shop plus told us to advertise on Kijiji in the Annapolis Valley, Bridgetown and Yarmouth area as there are too many cars for sale in Halifax. This I did when we got back to the unit plus got up to date with the receipts.

The weather cleared a bit so we BBQ the chicken ready for dinner later on. Relaxed catching up with checking things on laptop and Richard on his ipad. Skyped Linda in Florida and Marg is not good the Doctors at Christian Holland Homes want to put Marg in Faith Home Nursing Home side (loonie bin) till she is assessed re dementia. It is so sad she will not be able to take Faith (cat) with her as she will be in a one bedroom I feel sad for Linda being in Florida and not knowing what Marg will do next. Left a Skype message to Terry will catch them another day. We have been to so many areas where they can go hiking all these trails one would never get home if we did these trails.

Early dinner and pig out on the beautiful muffins, showered and ready for bed. Did the blog and
downloaded today’s photos and relaxed in bed with Richard watching TV before going to sleep and I hope I can sleep and don't watch the clock like Mum.
