The bed and pillow may be very hard but the sound of the waves, wind and rain put us to sleep like babies till after 7.30am. Even the other guest that arrived last night didn't disturb us. Hopefully Best Western Plus in Dartmouth be better than here with heating in all the rooms a cold bathroom is a killer.
Looking out the window to the Atlantic it is raining the waves are pounding and we have to pack the car yet but not in this rain we have until 10.30am to leave. Looking at the weather on TV the snow is starting to set in across parts of Canada mainly the center so we have been very lucky with the weather as we have crossed Canada. It's 9.30am and pelting down now and we will have this all the way to Halifax as it is raining there today. We are both just sitting here on out laptop and ipad watching TV.
Can't stay here all day the rain has eased and we quickly packed the car and we were off to Dartmouth couldn't take photos from the hillside of the inlets and the motel no getting wet for a photo. Back on Hwy3 the Lighthouse Scenic Route past Peggy's Cove and where we went yesterday (Prospect and Terence Bay) to Dartmouth. As usual the classic music is no the rain is pouring down not much to see only the bare maples and spruce trees.
Didn't take long to get to Halifax went through the industrial area first have to have our wits about us with the rain and highways. We were alright getting from Hwy 3 to Halifax but with the heavy rain visibility was very poor we missed the turn off for Hwy 102S but Jill took us up to the next turn off and we back tracked to Hwy 102s. You wouldn't believe it but the exit we were meant to take was blocked off due to roadworks, so Jill took us in a round of bout way (missed small street to left) over the highways to Hwy 111 to MacDonald Bridge a huge bridge over Halifax Harbour. At the end we had to pay a $1.00 toll fee Richard was getting very excited with driving in the rain and the traffic. Didn't know where to put the Loonie ($1.00) so Richard just throw it in the little basket and the toll post went up and we were off in fits of laughter. Between the tow of us concentrating on looking at the GPS and following Jill's instructions we finally found Best Western Plus Dartmouth Hotel & Suites.
Being early (11.00am) our room wasn't ready the lass said if we wait it should be ready in an hour. She suggested going to the Markets Near Dartmouth Ferry on Halifax Harbour or Mic Mac Mall which is only 2.6kms away. With map in hand we had our coffee in the car first then Jill took us to the Mic Mac Mall we navigated the highways okay. The rain hasn't stopped we walked around the mall for a couple of hours had a coffee and muffin at Tim Horton's in the Food Court.
Made it back to the Hotel with no problems our room was ready the staff were ready great told them we will give them a spotters fee if they help us sell the Pontiac (here's hoping). Took two loads to completely empty the Pontiac our room is on the third floor looks just like the one we had at Super 8 in Truro. Nice sitting room with desk, microwave and fridge, bathroom with basin in little passage to bedroom and we have another TV in the bedroom. Peace and quite for the both of us if we want to watch different shows or look at our laptop or ipad.
Unpacked what we needed and sorted all the brochures we have collected all over Canada, redid the advert on Kijiji and put one on another site autocatch.com so here's hoping it is sold very quickly. Having afternoon tea and a nice relaxing rest while it is still raining outside. One good thing breakfast is included so will be interesting to see what we have tomorrow at the buffet breakfast.
It is soooo nice to have space to cook dinner a bigger microwave and fridge easy to get everything and there is hanging space for our clothes. I don't think we will be continuing the countdown we will be to busy concentrating on selling the Pontiac. It is good with the bedroom as Richard can go and watch what he wants on his ipad and I can listen to the TV and sneak in the shows I like before going to bed in a lovely comfy bed with lots of pillows.
