The Royal Princess is on a
north-westerly course through the Nares Abyssal Plain (Atlantic Ocean) after
passing the island of Puerto Rico on our port side. Throughout today, we will
continue on a north-westerly course passing north of the Turks and Calcos
islands. Tomorrow morning we will pass 5 nautical miles to the south of Rum Cay
before making our final approaches to Princess Cays (Eleuthera).
The swell is a bit high today
plus it is overcast and everyone is too busy spending their money on the last
minute sales before the ship berths at Fort Lauderdale on 29 March. All
purchases on-board are Duty Free.
No need to get up early today
seeing we are at sea, so it is a late breakfast and a restful day of doing
virtually nothing. While Richard got acquainted with his new Steiner Predator
Binoculars I checked out my new Canon PowerShot SX700 HS digital camera only to
find the battery charger was missing from the box. The joy of upgrading the
binoculars and camera turned to another disappointment, which is one of many on
this holiday.Down on Deck 6 at the Camera Shop
we spoke of our misfortune and they suggested emailing the Royal Caribbean
store to solve the problem. We do have another 10 day cruise on the Royal
Princess so looks like we wait till we berth at St Thomas on 5 April before we
use the new camera.Another costly internet session
of internet banking of paying accounts, emails to Royal Caribbean and update on
cancelling Embassy Suites booking for 29 March plus daily expenses on-board. I
am glad Mandy is on the ball for us with all the emails I send to her.So glad we can get plain simple
food that doesn’t make me sick. Getting to know most of the drink, pool, buffet
and shop staff (who are from all over the world) plus they recognise us and we
have a friendly chat with them. Bobby (Waiter) at Sabatini’s Restaurant let us
know there is a lobster/shrimp night in the Traditional Dining Rooms (Concerto
Deck 6 and Symphony Deck 5) plus we don’t need to make a reservation as it will
be “Anytime dining” like Horizon Court and Horizon Bistro Buffet sections.Nice to be waited on and have a
sit down three course dinner in an elegant dining room. My dietary requirements
were met and we had a great evening. The Head Waiter took my order for tomorrow
night so we can have another formal dinner.Found a table and chairs on the
edge of the dance floor near the stage watched passengers in their formal
attire having their photos taken (who brings a Tux and long formal gown for a
cruise formal night). First we listened to the three violinists playing
classical music. The young Russian drink waitress knows us and brings our
glasses of water over as she knows we do not drink alcohol or soft drink.Noticed the Philippine couple
across the dance floor so lucky I had my cameras to video them dancing to the
music of New Deal who will be playing music the Passengers choose from the
60’s, 70’s. The couple are so entertaining only wish they dance in time with the
music.This year is the 50th
Anniversary of the Princess Line and at 11.15pm will be party time and the gold
balloons above will be released, but we won’t be staying for that, too tired and
it is late. Retired like many others for the evening.
