Caribbean Sea
Last night the Royal Princess travelled on several southerly courses down the Florida Straits where we expect to have some adverse current due to the fast flowing warm water of the Florida current. Then alter onto several south easterly courses into the Old Bahamas Channel, then continue on this leg as we transit down the northern coast of Cuba on the starboard side and the Great Bahama Bank on the port side.
Like everyone else being at sea for the day we slept in and had a late breakfast. Bad idea for the first time we have encountered both the Horizon Court and Horizon Bistro full with people having breakfast. Finally found a vacate table in the Court section, while waiting as usual for a long time for my lactose free milk we shared our table with a lovely well-travelled couple from California Fran and Jay. Had so many laughs with exchanging conversation about our holidays across the world and before we knew it, it was 11am. Parted company and went for a walk but it is very winding, overcast with a good swell plus new passengers are exploring the ship and don’t look where they are going.
Wander round the cruise ship after lunch then settled in the Atrium Piazza to listen to the Inspirational Trio playing classical melodies. A lovely American couple joined us to escape a very loud group on the other side of the Piazza. They absolutely love Australia toured the East Coast, Alice Springs and Uluru last December. Noticed this time there is a younger crowd of people including more kids on this cruise plus many don’t like washing their hands before entering the Horizon Court or Bistro they think the sanitiser kills the germs.Looking out our suite to the ocean the swell is picking up so we could be in for a rocky night, pity the people with their patches behind their ear. We miss Alfredo our Cabin Attendant From Deck 12, the chap we now have, we don’t hear him knock (forget to put “Privacy please” on door) and he has entered when we were dressing for dinner, plus he puts items in different places. Everyday I play hide and seek to find things so now I leave a little note “please leave”.Dining waiters in the Concerto Traditional Dining Room are just a little quicker tonight not an extended wait for our evening dinner. Wish there was more variety for me, Richard enjoyed his Surf & Turf and the surprise desert for me tasted like the lactose free yoghurt and jelly mix I do at home. Too crowded in the Piazza to watch the special performance by the Princess singers and dancers, so enjoyed our peppermint tea in the quiet Horizon Bistro before retiring.
