Throughout the night and onto the
morning Royal Princess sailed through Old Bahamas Channel, rounding the north
eastern tip of Cuba then set a southerly course towards the western tip of
Haiti. After we rounded to the west of Haiti set a south easterly course over
the Caribbean Sea (parts over 5,000m in depth).
Weather wise we are experiencing
overcast, with sunny patches, slight wind, calm sea with rain in the middle of
the day. It hasn’t stopped the passengers from swimming and laying in the sun
when it does shine.
With the Princess Patter (daily
guide) in hand we ventured round the decks, duty free shopping and catching
whatever event was on. By-passed the holiday store at sea (flogging diamonds),
browsed through the Art Gallery where Bingo was being played. Took part in the
Pain Management Acupuncture with Dr Lisa Nelson and booked a free consultation
at 1.30pm. Chattered with staff as we went along, watched from above on Deck 6
passengers trying to learn the Flashmob Dance for the Mardi Gras Party at the
end of the cruise. This will be fun to watch.Time is money to me and I
couldn’t wait any longer for Dr Lisa Nelson, as I was about to leave she
apologised and said a passenger had severe seasickness. Caught up with Richard
to have a late buffet lunch before returning back to the Lotus Spa for my free
consultation or should I say another way to get you to make a booking. US$1,500
for 10 acupuncture treatments (which might help me) is a bit steep. I thanked
her and said I will look into it when I return home.Quick shower and change of
clothes to go to Deck 6 Theatre for the Captain’s Circle special event and
thank heavens we were running late and missed the loud singing and music. Same
speech from Captain Bob Oliver and missed winning one of the three prizes, but
we did get the usual complimentary drink voucher.Tonight is the formal night with formal
portrait photos being taken at different areas on decks 5, 6 and 7 round the
Atrium. Some of the photographers we know and they are trying to get us to
pose, which we did at dinner in the Concerto Dining Room to help them with
their 600 photo quota. Thankful we will have a quiet dinner tonight as in the
Atrium the staff are assembling the Champagne Waterfall (over 600 champagne
glasses used to make the pyramid) for tonight’s party, photos and Captains
speech. This will take place between 7.15pm and 8.15pm this we watched on 21st
March.Tonight is the 50th
Anniversary Celebration Dinner and this time there was no waiting now the drink
waiter knows to serve only water (no alcohol) and the Head Supervisor has my
dinner ready with Richard’s. The Trivet melted in your mouth and after 4
courses we walked dinner off before heading down at 9pm to the Atrium to listen
to New Deal playing Beatles and Rolling Stones music. The new crowd of
passengers can dance so it was great watching all the old Rockers on the floor
plus we don’t have to tell Natalya (Russian drink waitress) what we want to
drink.Today was a great relaxing day of
exploring, participating, excellent dinner then entertainment.
