On departure from St Thomas
yesterday Royal Princess set a north-westerly course through the Nares Abyssal
Plain (Atlantic Ocean) after passing the island of Puerto Rico on the port
side. Throughout today we will continue on a north-westerly course passing
north of the Turks and Calcos islands. Tomorrow morning we will pass 5 nautical
miles to the south of Rum Cay before making our final approaches to our
anchorage at Princess Cays and hopefully there is not a 2 metre swell like last
time and we bypassed the island.
Today is a lay in day of doing
nothing, which means a late breakfast like everyone else and we are spoilt by
Aurel with a bowl of walnuts and pistachio’s. At 10am there is a Culinary Show in
the Princess Theatre (Cooking with Executive Chief David McDonald and Maître d’hôtel)
we have seen this before but not the tour of the Galley. We strolled around
Decks 7, 6 and 5 looking at the sales in the different shops, plus the big
Outlet sales of older cruise products. On Deck 5 in the Piazza was the Easter
family fun fair with activities including face painting, games with prizes,
arts & crafts and cookie decorating. The kids were having their photo taken
with Pelican Pete and the Easter Bunny, I got a nice shot of Yury taking
photos.
Just made it in time for the
Galley tour on Deck 6 the main galley between Concerto Dining Room and Allegro
Traditional Dining. Pity it was so quick it is such a big commercial kitchen
with all the different sections for preparing the meals. Could only take a
quick video not stopping for a photo.
Had our complimentary Latte at
the Piazza Bar watching the tail end of the Easter fun fair before the Ballroom
Blitz (Rumba) Dance Class, which didn’t interest us and time past quickly after
lunch. Had a laugh at the photos of us taken by our friendly ship
photographers, helped them out with their quota numbers for the day.
Formal night again very busy with
portrait photos taken on the three decks round the Atrium, plus there was
another Wedding on-board tonight (third one for the 30 days we have been on the
cruise. The Concerto Dining Room was also very busy Lobster and Prawn night
tonight, which was excellent including escargots but they were floating in
butter and not in the snail shells.
Too windy on Deck 16 near the
pool for our peppermint tea, everyone watching the basketball game on the
outdoor screen were wrapped up in rugs. We ventured back to a quiet area in the
Horizon Bistro before retiring for the evening.
