Anzac Day 100th year celebration at sea

Baja California Peninsula, Mexico
Another peaceful day at sea, bit of a swell last night the banging of the coat hangers in the early hours woke us, then we slept in and missed the 6.40am ANZAC Dawn Service. Checked the Princess Patter daily guide to see there is an ANZAC Day Wreath Ceremony at 10.30am in the Wheelhouse Bar.
Coral Princess throughout the night and today will continue a north westerly course towards Los Angeles, no coastline in sight only saw the outline of a cargo ship on the distant horizon. Partly cloudy, temperature of 220C, windy but fine and a swell of 1½ to 2 metres with white caps on the waves.
No need to get up early for breakfast, plus it wasn’t too busy in the Horizon Court and we are getting used to being serve all our food and drinks. Caught up with Red and Sharon while out on our balcony, solving the problems of the world, exchanging email addresses and making Red jealous by showing him photos from yesterday of a mother whale with her calf.
Kept an eye on the clock for 10.30am, got there a little early but the Wheelhouse Bar was crowded with Aussies and New Zealanders plus some other nationalities. It was lovely to see old veterans with their medals proudly displayed on their chests. Two Aussies in turn stood up, one resited a poem the other wording written by Ataturk the Turkish Leader from an inscription plaque at Anzac Cove in Gallipoli. It is the 100th Anniversary today and it was an honour to watch two Korean veterans on the Promenade Deck throw their wreaths into the sea to the applause of the passengers braving the wind.
While I caught up with the laundry, Richard braved the cool air at the Lido Pool for a dip in the pool (no one else game enough) and the hot tub/spa for the old bones. Water was quite cold plus the rolling of the ship put a few people off, nearly everyone was covered in towels sleeping or rugged up with a book on their sun loungers.
Laundry took longer than expected, it was very late in the afternoon and I couldn’t find Richard anywhere near the pool but we caught up in the Horizon Court for a late lunch and a little rest before tonight. No wildlife sightings from our balcony only pieces of seaweed.
Decided on having an early dinner tonight seeing it is the third and last formal night and everyone will be having their last formal portraits taken. Little busy, nice to see passenger and staff all in their formal attire. Sat near a lovely couple from Vancouver and spoke of our cruise journey’s and the wonderful countries we have all travelled to.
Said our goodbyes to Constantine, as we will not be coming to the Bordeaux Dining Room tomorrow night being the last night on board and suitcases need to be outside our door by 10pm the latest.
Made it in time for the 7.45pm production show “Dance” starring the Coral Princess dancers and singers. The Princess Theatre is full but we managed to sneak in next to one of the lightning crew with a good view behind the last row of seats. As always the show was brilliant featuring dances and songs to suit from all over the world, pity you are not allowed to film or take photos.
Listened to music being played as we walked the different decks around the Atrium, then upstairs to Deck 14 Horizon Court for diced fruit before retiring.
